John Meiners
John Meiners, Chief of Mission Aligned Businesses and Healthcare Solutions for the ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ, leads the development and expansion of the Association’s businesses that support its global mission to be a relentless force for longer, healthier lives.
John oversees multiple revenue-generating mission delivery departments at the Association, including Healthcare Business Solutions, International Programs, Quality, Outcomes Research & Analytics, and the Center for Health Technology and Innovation. The Healthcare Business Solutions business includes CPR & First Aid education at more than 4,000 training centers with 450,000 instructors who train 22 million people per year in more than 100 countries. Through its quality improvements programs, the Association supports more than half the hospitals in the U.S., along with several international facilities, with evidence-based, guideline directed care to improve patient outcomes. John leads the development and expansion of the ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ’s international mission through groundbreaking collaborations with Fortune Global 500 companies, creating shared value for both. Additionally, John serves on the board of RQI Partners, a partnership between the ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ and Laerdal Medical, dedicated to improving survival from cardiac arrest by bringing new solutions to resuscitation education and quality improvement.
In 2020, John’s division delivered just-in-time oxygenation and ventilation training for healthcare professionals engaged in the COVID-19 pandemic response and compiled interim CPR guidelines to help rescuers treat victims of cardiac arrest with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. Additionally, through his leadership, the Association developed the first CVD-focused COVID-19 registry that will provide insights to care and adverse cardiovascular outcomes, available to health care systems in the U.S. and internationally.
In his previous position as Executive Vice President for the Emergency Cardiovascular Care department, John revolutionized business operations to increase revenue and deliver life-saving programs, seeing the program grow by an average of 30 percent each year from 2010 – 2016. Additionally, he oversaw the Association’s activity outside of the U.S., and the development of the organization’s global science and health improvement programs. This included the establishment of seven international ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ offices and staff to support the organization’s emerging collaborative work in science, professional education, advocacy and health improvement.
John began his career with the ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ in 1990 and has held various roles, including Executive Vice President for the Great Rivers Affiliate from 2006 – 2010 and Executive Vice President for the Ohio Valley Affiliate from 2003 – 2006. He continues to lead the Association in further development of new products, technology platforms and services.
