Go Red for Women Venture Fund

Investing in innovation to improve women’s health at every age, stage and season of life

The deck is stacked against women’s health. Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women. Women account for 66% of people living with Alzheimer’s disease in the U.S. 80% of people with autoimmune diseases that can harm the heart and brain are women. And the list goes on.

Women spend an average of nine years of their lives in poor health — 25% more than men.

Despite the statistics, very little venture funding goes to women’s health. Of the more than $41 billion in health care venture funding in 2023, just 2% was specifically targeted to improving women’s health and well-being. Of that small percentage, most went to reproductive health, leaving the health issues that create the biggest burden on women — heart, brain and related conditions — largely unaddressed.

Paradigm, Meet Shift

The Go Red for Women Venture Fund is working to turn the tide for women’s health. We invest in and advance the market for solutions that recognize the unique cardiovascular, brain and related health needs of women.

Through focused investment, we are making it possible to translate evidence-based science and medicine into products and services that make a real difference in women’s lives.

Women’s Health is Good Business

The high unmet need in women’s health creates explosive market potential. Every $1 invested is estimated to generate $3 in economic growth. Closing the health gap will dramatically improve lives while uplifting the global economy by up to $1 trillion by 2040.

Cardiovascular disease alone makes up more than a third of the sex and gender health gap in the United States. Changing the paradigm has the potential to create exponential growth in healthy lives and the economy.
