Where We Invest
The Go Red for Women Venture Fund is sparking real-world change by translating science into action.
We’re leading by example to draw more interest, innovation and investment in the many health conditions that impact women exclusively, differently or disproportionately. Addressing the conditions that contribute to poor heart and brain health in women improves health for everyone including families, communities and all participants in the economy.
Women are Not Small Men
Breakthrough science and research can take decades to translate into commercially available, broadly adopted standards of care — if it ever does. The new technologies and services that make it to market often fail to address women’s unique clinical needs. All too often, the result is inadequate treatment and poor outcomes.
We invest in promising companies at the Series A and B stages that are translating evidence-based science and medicine into products and services that address conditions that affect women exclusively, differently or disproportionately. We also invest in companies that use our capital to redesign successful but generalized products and services to better serve women’s unique health needs.
Investment Focus: Health Conditions
What makes the Go Red for Women Venture Fund different is our investment focus across the spectrum of cardiovascular, brain and related health conditions that affect women exclusively, differently or disproportionately.
Exclusively: for example, pre-eclampsia, PCOS, endometriosis, menopause
Differently: for example, heart disease (e.g., hypertension, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation), type 2 diabetes
Disproportionately: for example, stroke, autoimmune conditions, migraine, depression, Alzheimer’s and dementia, chronic fatigue syndrome
We do not invest in organizations whose products or services are primarily focused on fertility, healthy pregnancy, period tracking or birth control. We do consider gynecological conditions that directly impact heart and brain health.
Investment Focus: Health Sectors
The health sectors we invest in are another Go Red Fund differentiator.
We invest in companies using evidence-based research to improve women’s cardiovascular and brain health through:
- health services
- digital health and health IT
- medical devices
- diagnostics
We come in at the Series A and Series B stage and consider seed investment for select companies that benefited from Association-funded research. We’re also interested in companies that would use our capital to redesign successful but generalized products and services to better serve women’s unique health needs.
The Go Red for Women Venture Fund deal size is up to $7M per company over multiple rounds.

The Go Red for Women Venture Fund invests in companies that have the greatest potential for both health impact and financial return. We’re engaged investors, supporting and advising to help companies reach and sustain commercial success. One way we do that is by connecting funded organizations to the Association’s vast clinical data and clinical trial capacity, as well as its wide network of women’s health experts across science and industry.
